Hey all.

I am sure these crank angle sensor questions are a dime a dozen, but having checked the manual twice I still dont know what to do for sure in my situation. We have a 2003 GSX-R 600 which uses a 2 wire crank angles sensor (reluctor I believe). The manual explains how to hook the ECU to either a  4 wire hall or reluctor. What I am wondering is in the case of the GSX what to do with the extra two wires. Should I leave them loose or patch them in with the other wires on the positive side? If I leave them loose is there a specific pin I should use or does it not matter?

Thanks, a lot.

Hi Charlie,

I assume you mean that you have a 2 wire sensor, and you are wondering what to do with the remaining two CAS wires in the e420c loom?

If that is what you mean, just do the following:
- Connect the positive wire of the reluctor to the black wire inside the 4-core cable, and click that wire into position B11.
- Connect the negative wire of the reluctor to the white wire inside the 4-core cable, and click that wire into position B4.
- Do whatever you want with the red and yellow wires inside the 4-core cable (unless there is a cam sensor too).

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry if I was unclear. You were spot on, I was asking what to do with extra two wires on the wiring loom given that we have a two wire crank angle sensor, your answer is perfect.

Thanks for bringing up the cam sensor. We plan to use that for the reset instead of cutting off a tooth on the crank wheel. I take it that you use the use one of the remaining wires for the cam sensor? Does the ECU not care what color I choose and just figure out which wire the crank sensor is and which is the cam sensor itself?

For reference I am using the trigger settings that WARI supplies for the GSX.
