Hi there,

My ignition is not working properly, so I performed the "override" "enable" sequence to find out that one output has 0,7V, but does not go to 12V when ticked, while the other does. I think that shows the output is burned.

Is there any way to repair a burned IGN output? Or any other ideas?

Thanks Marc

Hi Marc,

What were the ignition outputs connected to when you performed this test?

Hi Nick,

First I disconnected both IGN wires, then I connected the positiv lead of a multimeter to the IGN1 wire and the negative lead to earth (car body).

After performing the test I did the same with IGN2 and 3 to find different results. IGN1 goes to 12V when enabled, the other 2 don't.

Hi Marc,

It sounds like the ignition driver chip in the ECU may be damaged.
Do aux outputs 5-8 still work BTW? These are on the same chip.

It is possible to repair it by replacing the chip in question, but it is tricky.
Where are you located?

What is your ignition setup BTW (ie. dizzy, individual coils, etc)?

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob,

I have to appologise for the late answers, but -5°C in the garage are not very inviting....

Additionally I was incorrect with IGN2. Actually it is IGN1 which does not go to 12V when ticked in F11 screen. This might also explain why Aux5-8 work. Roll Eyes

May location is the Westend of Germany. Which means Thorsten speaks my language while Ruud is closer to visit.  Smiley

My setup is Falling Edge, Coil Packs, Alternate Outputs. All the same from when it worked properly.

Oh, when I connected the plug to the coil a light buzzing could be heard.

Thanks,
Marc
