eMod013 S1 Mazda Rx8 "Sensor How To Page"


  • Adaptronic is utilizing that the factory engine harness connector is not fully populated. This gives the end user the option to purchase the pin's - 316836-1 and install them into the factory engine harness connector
  • The factory connector has a locking tab that can be easily popped open with a pic. Then the properly crimped pin will slide right in. 
 
Fuel Pressure Sensor Instructions - Fuel PSI Install
  • Remove the BARO Sensor
  • Baro Sensor Wiring Color/Function:
    • Black/Red = Sensor Input
    • Black/Blue = Sensor 5v Output
    • Black/Green = Sensor Ground
  • In Eugene under the input tab select Atmospheric Pressure Sensor and change the Atmospheric Pressure Mode to - Automatically measure from on-board MAP before engine is started.
  • In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Liquid Pressure Sensors- Select Fuel Pressure Sensor - Select Sensor type for external fuel sensor - Choose your fuel pressure sensor type (Most common 0.5-4.5v (150 PSIg), Change the Source from Default to Ch 4 - EMAP_ext
  • Note when the Fuel Pressure Sensor is activated it enables the engine protection feature which is located under the Functions tab - then select Engine Protection | Rev Limit - Select Fuel pressure and disable or enable it - Here is the instructions for Engine Protection.

 

Oil Pressure Sensor Instructions - Oil PSI Install
  • Suggested pin locations for the Oil Pressure Sensor:
    • 3O = Oil Pressure Sensor Input
    • 3K = Sensor 5V output
    • 3M = Sensor Ground
  • In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Liquid Pressure Sensors- Select Oil Pressure Sensor - Select Sensor type for external oil sensor - Choose your oil pressure sensor type (Most common 0.5-4.5v (150 PSIg)), Set the Source to Default.
  • Note when the Oil Pressure Sensor is activated it enables the engine protection feature which is located under the Functions tab - then select Engine Protection | Rev Limit - Select Oil pressure / Temp and disable or enable it - Here is the instructions for Engine Protection.

 

Oil Temperature Sensor Instructions - Oil Temp Install

  • For this sensor we recommend removing pin 5U from the engine harness connector. This pin was previously used for the MAF sensor ground which is no longer needed. 
  • Suggested pin locations for the Oil Temperature Sensor:
    • 3Q - Oil Temperature Sensor Input
    • 5U - Sensor Ground
  • Note temperature sensors are non polarity specific which means either side of the sensor can be used. 
  • In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Temperature Sensors - Select Oil Temp Sensor - Choose your Sensor type - (Generic would be use for a sensor that is not listed - you will need to setup your own custom calibration which is usually documented from the factory specification sheet) Leave the source to default. Click on the sensor Biasing and Filtering section and make sure the Bias OilT sensor Input pin is checked and the Filtering (ms) is set to 200. 
  • Note when the Oil Temperature Sensor is activated it enables the engine protection feature which is located under the Functions tab - then select Engine Protection | Rev Limit - Select Oil pressure / Temp and disable or enable it - Here is the instructions for Engine Protection.

 

Fuel Temperature Sensor Instructions - Fuel Temp Install
  • Fuel temperature sensor input is a little more difficult to accomplish - the reason for this is the same input for the fuel temp also is used for the cruise control option. So if you still want cruise control but also want fuel temp you will need to install a flex fuel sensor. If you do not care about having cruise control and still want fuel temp (less expensive then a flex fuel sensor setup) follow these pin locations for Fuel Temperature Sensor:
    • 5V - Fuel Temperature Sensor Input
    • Splice into 5U or 3M - Sensor ground
  • In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Temperature Sensors - Select Fuel Temp Sensor - Choose your Sensor type - (Generic would be use for a sensor that is not listed - you will need to setup your own custom calibration which is usually documented from the factory specification sheet) Leave the source to default. Click on the sensor Biasing and Filtering section and make sure the Bias FuelT sensor Input pin is checked and the Filtering (ms) is set to 200. 

 

Flex Fuel Sensor Instructions - Ethanol Sensor Install

  •  The Flex Fuel Sensor behaves a little differently then other 3 wire sensors. It uses 12v switched power and chassis ground.
  • Pin Locations for flex fuel sensor  
    • 1A - Flex Fuel Sensor Input
    • Pull Pin 5AF and use that wire for 12V switched (can also be used to power a wideband like a LC-2)
    • Connect the ground to the ground location on the passenger side right next to the ECU enclosure. 
  • In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Ethanol - Make sure the Ethanol Source is set to CAS 3
  • In Eugene under the Tuning - Fuel tab Select Fuel MAP 1 Settings - Change the Stoich Source from Constant to Flex Fuel (Ethanol sensor required) Once this option is select it enables all of the flex fuel maps. Here is Andy's video on Flex Fuel.
  • Flex Fuel Sensor does more than read Ethanol content it also reads Fuel Temperature. In Eugene under the Inputs tab select Temperature Sensors - Select Fuel Temp Sensor - Change the Sensor Type to From Flex sensor.
